Holiday House Tours at The Mount
Looking for some holiday decorating ideas? Start your quest by taking a Holiday House Tour of Edith Wharton’s home, The Mount, in Lenox, MA. With a gracious nod to the past, the Lenox Garden Club will deck the halls of The Mount with festive lights, garlands, wreaths, and trees bringing to life the magic of the holiday season as enjoyed during the gilded age when Wharton was in residence. Decorations will be on display beginning November 17 through January 5, 2020. Tours begin at 11:00 AM, with the final tour of the day leaving at 4:00 PM. The Mount is open daily May though October, and on Saturdays and Sundays only November through February.
Holiday Marketplace at the Berkshire Botanical Garden, December 7 and 8, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
A garden transformed into a glittering holiday marketplace is the hallmark of this annual end of the year event at the Berkshire Botanical Garden. Feast your eyes on the talented creations of local artists and designers at the legendary Gallery of Wreaths. Now that you’ve been inspired by the holiday décor at The Mount, pick up holiday swags and traditional centerpieces at the plant sale to fill your own home with the holiday spirit. And if you’re still looking for that one-of-a-kind gift for a certain someone, check out the hand-made jewelry and giftware. Be sure to indulge in a gourmet donut and hot cider while meandering the grounds. Admission is free.
Whimsical, Wonderful Festival of Trees at the Berkshire Museum, November 16, 2019 through January 5, 2020
Imagination, inspiration, celebration and fun! That’s what the Festival of Trees sparks when you visit the indoor forest of trees decked out in their holiday finery. Not your typical trees of lighted bulbs and sparking ornaments, this year’s theme celebrates the heroes that inspire us all. Each of the more than 100 trees are decorated and sponsored by a local business, organization, or school who chose their own special hero to honor, whether it be a local champion or internationally recognized super star. Admission: $13 Adult, $6 Child
Naumkeag Winter Lights, November 21 through December 31, 2019
Imagine one of the area’s most historic and popular homes awash in thousands of shimmering lights. Gardens bathed in brilliant reds, greens, yellows, and blues transformed into a winter wonderland. Even the frozen fountains spout wisps of blue light towards the heavens. Whether you’re truly young or simply young at heart, each weekend will feature special performances and live music to enjoy while strolling through eight acres of decorated grounds. Be sure to dress appropriately, because it’s winter and baby it’s cold outside. Admission is $12 for Members; $17 for Nonmembers. Children under 12 enter free. Entrance to the gardens is ticketed in 15-minute increments.
