Each Labor Day weekend, Lime Rock Park hosts this vintage auto racing extravaganza, attracting collectors and connoisseurs of rare automobiles from around the globe. Lime Rock, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is consider perhaps the most historically significant track on the racing circuit. It remains to this day exactly as it was when it opened in 1957. A time-honored tradition since 1982, this extraordinary gathering of vintage car racing is celebrating its 37th year.

The weekend opens on Thursday with a 17-mile parade through neighboring towns and villages featuring a dazzling array of vintage race and sports cars, followed by three days of racing on the historic track. This year’s highlights include a Formula Ford race group to honor the 50th anniversary of the single-seater class, the Sunday Concours d’Elegance, and the Gathering of the Marques.

The Concours, an exhibition of classic motor vehicles, showcases more than 300 cars grouped by year or purpose in an effort to reveal the beauty and elegance of the entries. The glittering Gathering of the Marques offers an extroardinary opportunity to view such classic beauties as Shelbys, Aston Martins, Porsches, Peugots, Minis, Fiats and more. Grouped by country of origin, or by make and model, these vehicles are brought to the show bytheir proud owners. New this year, a Touring Group invites owners to display sports cars up to the late 1970s.

This tour de force event, Lime Rock Historics 37 is a grand way to experience vintage auto racing where racing great John Fitch and celebrity racer Paul Newman tested their moxie around the 1.5 mile track and its seven challenging turns.
