MASS MoCa: A Beacon of Modern Art In The Berkshires

Set amidst the history and lore of the Berkshires is one of the best modern art museums in the country, MASS MoCa. The museum is located in North Adams, Massachusetts, and would be a perfect stop to make on your way to or from the Staveleigh House.

MASS MoCA is not easily defined, as it encompasses so much: painting, photography, sculpture, music, dance, film, theater, and works that defy any special niche.

Pay a visit and you’ll find indoor galleries that are as striking in their design as in the work they display. Or take a walk outdoors through beautiful 19th Century courtyards that showcase contemporary art pieces. Much of the work shown in the spaces or performed on the Museum’s stages is created on site during residencies that bring hundreds of talented artists to the North Adams campus year-round.
