A Summer Season Of Dance At Berkshire’s Jacob’s Pillow

If you’d like to enjoy some of the great summer performances available in the Berkshire’s, add a trip to Jacob’s Pillow to your list. The Beckett, Massachusetts, organization hosts the oldest internationally acclaimed summer dance festival in the United States.

Not only are the performances at Jacob’s Pillow a marvel to see, but the setting is a showstopper too. The site was originally settled in 1790 and called Jacob’s Ladder because of its hilltop setting and the winding road leading up to it. Because of a pillow-shaped rock on the property, the name was eventually changed to Jacob’s Pillow. In 2003, the venue was declared a National Historic Landmark District for its rich cultural value.

The summer season at Jacob’s Pillow, running from June 20 through August 26, 2018, offers incredible dance talent, covering a range of dance styles—from progressive acrobatic styles to classic ballet. A full listing of the schedule is available on the Jacob’s Pillow website, but to provide a sense of the scope, we’ve included a few of the performances below.
