While Charles Baldwin & Sons was officially established in 1888, the family history of making extracts goes back generations. Today the company and store in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts is a thriving place, making and selling lots more than extracts.
Baldwin’s Pure Vanilla Extract is the heart of the company, a dark, rich and flavorful product made with high-quality vanilla beans from Madagascar. It is still made as it was year’s ago, in a solid copper percolator, and aged in oak barrels. In addition to vanilla, the company makes other extracts used in baking, including pure anise, lemon, peppermint, black walnut, and others.
In the 1920’s, the company branched out into syrups, creating Baldwin’s Table Syrup in answer to customer’s requests for a less expensive alternative to maple syrup.
Charles Baldwin & Sons is located in the village of West Stockbridge on the banks of the Williams River. Stop by and you’ll find a range of extracts, baking ingredients, table syrup, a special Bloody Mary Mix and other unique products.
