You’ll find sandwiches, paninis, salads, and Italian dishes on Baba Louie’s menu, but what really draws diners to this Great Barrington restaurant is its pizza—and it is outstanding.
Baba Louie’s has made its reputation on turning out dishes that contain top quality and fresh ingredients. This is really apparent when you order one of the specialty salads. The generous bowls are a feast of freshness, making them a meal in themselves or great for sharing.
Ordering only salad, however, will deprive you of enjoying the pizza and that would be a shame, for Baba Louie’s pizza is delicious. The wood-fired pies have superb sourdough crusts (including a gluten-free variety) with a selection of toppings that makes decision-making tough. My favorite? Dolce Vita, the “sweet life” indeed! The topping of wilted spinach, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella cheese, gorgonzola, and California figs is an irresistible salty-sweet combination. Among other pizza choices—there are 13 in all—are Isabella Pizzarella with roasted sweet potatoes and parsnips, caramelized onions, fresh mozzarella, and shaved fennel; and Ricardo’s Pizza Famosa with three cheeses and Kalamata olives.
Baba Louie’s is a great choice for a wide variety of palates, including vegetarians, vegans, and those who are gluten-intolerant. Beer and wine is available.
