What a cultural gem we have here in the Berkshire Mountains! The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center is a treasure trove of wonderful music, dance, theater, opera, and more, all reasonably priced for locals and visitors.
The idea for the theater was conceived in 1904 by a coalition of businessmen who named the place “Mahaiwe,” which is derived from the original Mahican name for Great Barrington meaning “the place downstream.” Over the years the building and organization has changed and grown into its present state, offering a wide range of entertainment. Today, the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center seats just under 700 people and has year-round events. Below is a highlight of upcoming performances.
